The Twins

There is usually a story behind each painting. I find it hard to tell the story behind mine as usually these stories are fractured and sometimes not obvious even to myself.

But this diptych is easy. Unlike the other paintings where there is a story behind these two canvases have a story in front of them. These are twin babies, sharing a moment of conception, a womb, a supply of positive or negative input, sharing nutrition, oxygenation, levels of pollution, the sounds of their mother’s heartbeat. Yet, they have two completely different futures ahead of them. For one of them is XX and the other one is XY and this is what will impact their lives more than anything else. Depending on where they are born this difference might be striking or negligible, but it is never the same. So, they are enjoying a brief moment of balance, equality and colorful dreams.
